About
Peter Franc (b. 1981, Australia) is a designer and photographer whose work explores human origins, the traces we leave behind, and our evolving relationship with the natural world. Through quiet, geometrically composed images of remote and diverse landscapes, he seeks to deepen appreciation for the planet by revealing its subtle wonders and distant corners.
His photographs have been exhibited internationally, with shows across Europe and Australia. Selected works have been published by Phaidon Press, Smithsonian Magazine, and UNESCO.
In a recent year-long overland journey from London to Sydney, Peter followed the contours of the earth, witnessing how geography shapes culture and identity. That experience continues to inform his practice, which often gravitates toward desolate, expansive places—where silence, space, and scale offer perspective beyond the everyday.
“People may try to change the planet, but all the while the planet will be changing them too. A sense of place, an aesthetics of landscape, all those things change with time. You know the people who first saw the Grand Canyon thought it was ugly as hell because it wasn’t like the Alps. It took them a long time to see it’s beauty.” Kim Stanley Robinson
Other interests include strategic design, endurance sports, nutrition and geology. He is currently living in Tasmania, Australia.
