Projects SALT
In SALT, Peter Franc transforms the industrial salt ponds of Useless Loop, Western Australia, into a series of luminous aerial abstractions. Shot from a doorless Cessna with the horizon deliberately removed, the images flatten into painterly compositions—geometries of crystallised brine, shifting hues, and delicate textures. Printed on pearlescent paper to echo the reflective shimmer of the salt flats, the series invites viewers to consider how human industry can, at scale, become a canvas—where function meets form, and the utilitarian becomes unexpectedly sublime. — Smithsonian Magazine
